How to Work for Weight Watchers

Weight Watchers careers as Service Providers are exclusively available to successful Weight Watchers members. In order to be considered for employment as a WW leader or receptionist, you must be an active member who has met your weight-loss goal and achieved lifetime membership by maintaining your ideal weight. Working for Weight Watchers can help keep members on-track, while also allowing them to share their healthy lifestyle advice with other members. (Weight-loss success and WW membership are not required for corporate employees who do not interact with the public.)

Part 1 - Getting Involved in the Weight Watchers Community

Join the Weight Watchers program
1

→ Join the Weight Watchers program. This could include attending Weight Watchers meetings, utilizing Weight Watchers at Home, or joining Weight Watchers at Work.

→ Weight Watchers meetings provide in-person support, weekly weigh-ins to keep you on track, and a variety of other helpful tools (like access to the tracking app).

→ Weight Watchers at Home includes access to the tracking app, ordering options from Weight Watchers healthy food options, and exercise advice.

→ Weight Watchers at Work is a corporate wellness program that is aimed at helping all employees find a good balance between eating, exercising, and healthy living.

Commit to the Weight Watchers program
2

→ Commit to the Weight Watchers program. Start using the program and integrate it into your everyday life. This means using the app to track all of your daily food and exercise, attending meetings, recording your weight progress online, and even purchasing healthy meal options through Weight Watchers at Home.

→ Being outspoken and engaged during meetings can serve as practice for meeting room positions with Weight Watchers.

Stay consistent
3

→ Stay consistent. The best way to see progress and to achieve your goals at Weight Watchers is by remaining consistent and focused. Attend meetings regularly, use the app on a daily basis, and reach out for support when you need it. Track your food intake and your exercise logs every day.

→ If you miss a day or give in to your cravings, don’t feel guilty and stray away from the program. Jump right back in to get yourself back on track.

Part 2 - Meeting the Criteria

Meet your performance goals
1

→ Meet your performance goals. Use the Weight Watchers program and stay within your prescribed caloric allowances. This will help you lose the weight you want and stay within healthy BMI guidelines Weight Watchers has implemented for its employees. These guidelines also govern who is eligible for internal promotions.

→ Weight Watchers considers a healthy BMI to be in the range of 20 to 25. The company will consider applicants with BMIs up to 27. If you have a higher BMI, the company may still accept your application along with a doctor's note to confirm you are at a healthy weight for your build.

Work towards reaching lifetime membership status
2

→ Work towards reaching lifetime membership status. Try to reach your goal weight and maintain it for six weeks in order to achieve lifetime membership. Hitting this milestone will give you access to all of the Weight Watchers support tools for as long as you are within 2 lbs of your healthy weight range. It is a valuable way to maintain a healthy lifestyle, and is often a requirement for employment at the company.

→ You can be within 2 lbs (.9 kg) of your goal weight to be considered for employment with Weight Watchers. Your goal weight must fall within the healthy range as determined by body mass index (BMI) standards, or as determined by your doctor.

3

→ Get the necessary experience. For some corporate positions, you may need an undergraduate degree. A management position may even require a Master’s degree. But whatever position you apply for will have some prerequisites – like sales experience, technology training, familiarity with social media, or even some corporate job-related skills.

Part 3 - Finding Employment Opportunities

1

→ Choose a leader position. These types of positions involve working directly with Weight Watchers members by facilitating meetings and counseling members. Leaders need to have strong knowledge of the Weight Watchers program, excellent customer service skills, and the ability to motivate members. Weight Watchers leaders are required to

Before you apply for a job at Weight Watchers, you should update your résumé to emphasize the qualities and experience that you think will be the most valuable for the position at Weight Watchers. Prioritize experiences that highlight any customer service, sales, or health-related experience.

→ Include things that show you work well with others, can handle the responsibility of a leadership role, and exhibit organizational skills.

Fill out the online application
2

→ Fill out the online application. Find the application associated with the position you selected and complete all of the required fields. You will need to include previous work history, some personal information, and professional references.

→ You may also need to upload a copy of your résumé with your online application.

Engage in follow-up contact with hiring managers
3

→ Engage in follow-up contact with hiring managers at Weight Watchers. Types of contact will vary depending on the job you applied for and whether the hiring managers are interested in your application. You can usually expect to be contacted initially by phone or email.

→ If you are considered a potential candidate, you will probably have several interviews, both over the phone and in-person.

Prepare some interview answers ahead of time
4

→ Prepare some interview answers ahead of time. Take some time to prepare responses to possible interview questions before the actual interview. This will help you feel more prepared, and prevent you from stumbling through your answers if you have to think of them on the spot. Some possible questions you might be asked include:

→ Why do you want to work at Weight Watchers?

→ How has Weight Watchers impacted your life positively?

→ How have you integrated the Weight Watchers program permanently into your everyday life?

→ What was your biggest struggle with the Weight Watchers program?

→ What advice do you give others who want to lose weight and improve their overall health?

→ How would you handle a customer that is upset or angry?

Learn the dress code
5

→ Learn the dress code. When you show up to your interview, you need to be dressed appropriately for the job. This means that you should dress in business casual attire.

→ In most cases, this includes a dress/skirt or slacks and a nice top.

→ Weight Watchers is fairly casual in their dress code requirements. But you should still dress to impress at the interview.

Participate in on-the-job training
6

→ Participate in on-the-job training. The length and intensity of training will vary based on the specific position. Most training will be on-site training, either online or in-person, related specifically to the nature of the work you’ll be expected to complete, and to the corporate environment of the Weight Watchers community.

→ Some travel may be required in order to attend formal training sessions.
